ABOUT BUNYAAD FOUNDATION

Bunyaad Foundation came into being with a clear mandate of reaching out to the underprivileged rural and urban youth and inculcate in them a spirit of reaching heights with whatever resources they have. Our aim is to help rural youth have that escape velocity which causes them to escape the gravitational pull that holds them back and the tendency to believe that achieving heights is not our cup of tea but of the elite and the belief that all worldly comforts are meant for the elite, we are here to break this myth.

The ideology that propels Bunyaad Foundation is based on the non-negotiable principle that every person should have access to quality formal education as a matter of right. Apart from academics we emphasize greatly on the significance of vocational training and life skills, thus working towards providing employable industry training skills to the unemployed youth of the society. Its focus groups include youth belonging to rural and urban Below Poverty Line (BPL) youth and women. The focus on mainstreaming i.e. education with employability is the crux of our philosophy.

The expertise of Bunyaad Foundation lies in working with the marginalized community. Considerably that is also, one of the major sectors, where maximum intervention is needed. They are also the communities, which have time and again been excluded from the purview and scope of national programmes that have otherwise claimed major impact.

LIVELIHOOD

Our experience of working with youth in rural India has taught us that education leading to gainful employment is education otherwise it’s a waste of a resource. As 12th Five Year Plan is focused on skills and placements, we clearly see it as a great policy shift and our mandate is to contribute as much as possible to the Govt. of India’s target of training and placing 500 million youth by 2022. We are currently running 20 training centers in J&K, Delhi, Manipur, Uttrakhand, UP etc.

We have mobilized more than 6000 candidates for employment programs in UP, Bihar, west Bengal, Assam and Haryana. We have trained more than 200 girls in retail sector and placed them with brands like Vishal Megamart, Pizza Hut, Reliance Fresh, MORE, etc. We have also trained 200 candidates from the border district of Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir and placed them in the local market of Poonch and Surankot.  We are currently training around 150 girls in DELHI NCR at Madanpur Khadar, Begumpur, Chhatarpur, Badarpur, Sarai kalekhan etc.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

We conduct trainings as well as facilitate actual processes at organization and community levels to sensitize, mobilize and actively engage the communities in developmental interventions. At Bunyaad Foundation we understand that community engagement is critical to ensuring relevance, success and sustainability in any development intervention. Essentially, it entails a process of sensitizing member of the community, bringing them together and empowering them to better understand the need for a development intervention with them and demand for particular benefits and services. Our prime focus is youth and we have been continuously interacting with school and college youth to sensitize and motivate them to take advantage of Govt initiatives and also build their own capacities to exploit their potential to the best of their abilities.

GENDER INTEGRATION

We believe that gender is a critical factor in determining equity in development outcomes. We facilitate the process of integrating gender into development programs and organizational policies beginning with a gender analysis and followed by a series of other processes such as gender trainings as well as ensuring complete buy-in and accountability by all stakeholders. As the next step, we also support organizations to draft a Gender Integration Strategy or Guidance.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

We facilitate a process of capacity building for organizations to ensure an effective Project Management that is customized, strategic and accountable to results. We help organizations develop project management strategies and tools that include mobile and web-based tools to effectively plan, monitor, evaluate as well as document both quantitative and qualitative outcomes of their interventions. We also help them prepare Project Management Guidance or Manuals.

EDUCATION

Looking at the dashboard of opportunities the students in metro cities and other parts of the world have access to, we find it strange that the students who are comparatively brighter in certain aspects fail to make use of the opportunities available to them just because of lack of information especially being a part of the most over-communicated society that has ever existed on the face of earth. The last two decades have seen technology revolutionizing almost everything around us including the way we think .The social networking has changed the way people connect with each other and the kind of new avenues that have taken shape on social networking sites. We tried to look into the reasons why some students are able to grab the right opportunity at the right time and why others fail and end up doing things they never wanted to do.  Here are the reasons we found that become the greatest barrier to success.

• Improper or no use of internet
• Lack of communication skills
• Confidence deficit
• Motivation deficit
• Curiosity deficit.

Our aim was not only to find the reasons behind the failure but to find the ways to catalyze growth. We have developed a few training programs for the youth which ensures holistic well being of the students pursuing education in rural parts of the country.
